Autumn One PE 2022

Reception PE 

In our first term at Greenside the children have been working on fundamental movement skills such as running, jumping, galloping and skipping. We have been playing fun games such as rob the chest to show off these skills.

 

Year 1

In Year One PE we have been very lucky to have a half term of coaching from Rory at Lancashire Cricket foundation. We worked on striking and fielding skills and well as bowling and mini games. 

 

In indoor PE we worked on creating different pathways and moving at different levels.

 

Year 2

In outdoor PE year two have been working on fundamental movement skills such as hopping, jumping, catching and throwing and beginning to apply this skills in different game scenarios.  While in indoor PE during gymnastics we have been working on spinning, turning and twisting.

Sunflower PE

In Sunflower PE we have also been lucky to have sessions on cricket from Rory at Lancashire Cricket Foundation. We have done some fantastic batting against a moving ball and played small sided games in which each player took on a role such as wicketkeeper, batter and bowler.

We have also been taking on weekly swimming sessions and are improving all the time.

Year 3  

In year 3 we have been working on starting to link movements together in a sequence in gymnastics .

 

In outdoor PE we have worked on invasion games, exploring the different skills such as passing, dodging, attacking and defending that are used in games such as netball, football and tag rugby.

 

Year 4 

In year 4 PE we have been experiencing our first term in the pool in swimming sessions while outdoors we have worked tag rugby, comparing its similarities with other invasion games such as finding space and ball handling skills with other skills such as dodging, tagging and passing backwards.

Year 5

In year 5 we have been working on dance through the ages, covering dance styles such as the Charleston and Jive. While in outdoor PE we have been working on hockey, drawing on skills from other invasion games and combining them with sport specific skills such as indian dribble and push passes

 

Year 6 

In year 6 we have worked on invasion game skills such as overlapping, receiving on the half turn and defending one on one as well as playing different games that combine different invasion games such as end ball. We have also worked on resolving conflicts.

In Indoor PE we have worked on gymnastics, which has involved working together as groups to create longer sequences.
