The Mystery of the Hiding Elf
Butterfly class worked collaboratively to solve The Mystery of the Hiding Elf. Jingles the elf could not find his friend Belle and needed help. The children worked together to complete tasks to eliminate different places Belle could be hiding around the school. They looked for missing letters in the alphabet, corrected Belle’s maths mistakes, cracked a Christmas code, used tangram shapes to find the correct Christmassy picture and finally spotted the real words hidden to make a path through the alien words maze. Once they worked out where she was they went to get her – she was ready and waiting to be transported safely back to join Jingles on the shelf.
Superheroes
This half term Butterfly class have been Superheroes in training. We have designed our own costumes. First we did some research about what superhero costumes look like – thinking about the colours, shapes and logos they have. Then we designed our own capes. We had to choose a main colour, shapes and make our own logos. When we designed our masks we had to make sure they matched the cape. Mrs Maltman altered some of our old t-shirts into capes ready for us to decorate them using fabric paint. We made our masks using foam sheets – carefully following the design.
In PE lessons we have been practising our superhero moves. Working on balancing, jumping and super speed! We have also been putting other superhero skills into action by solving problems, decoding coded messages and working together!
This week we needed to put all our SUPER skills and costumes to the test. Evil Pea had captured Supertato and he needed finding and rescuing! We had to work together to solve the clues to find him before he met a fate worse than mashed!
