Nursery - Lunar New Year
In nursery, they have learned all about the Lunar New Year and how lots of people all over the world celebrate new year when there is a new moon. They also learned a lot about how Chinese people celebrate Lunar New Year, how a monster called Nien came to scare everyone, so the villagers played loud drums, waved fire, used fireworks and the colour red to scare him away. They used loud drums and cymbals, waved their streamers like fireworks and made two dragons, so they could have a parade to scare Nien away. They were so noisy that they don’t think he’ll ever come to Greenside.

Drawing Club
In drawing club, we’ve been learning how to hold our pen with three fingers. Then we look and listen very carefully to Miss Dobb while she shows us how to draw lines and shapes. We are learning different handwriting shapes, but Miss Dobb makes them into a picture. So far we’ve practiced on drywipe boards but after Christmas we will be doing it in our books! We love drawing club!

Diwali Dancing
This week we learned about Diwali. We learned all about the Diya lights and how families decorate their houses with flowers and powdered chalk called Rangoli and then we learned a dance that showed all these things in our movements.

Harvest
On Wednesday the 23rd of October Nursery performed their harvest songs for the very first time in front of an audience. We sang; This is the way…, Dingle Dangle Scarecrow, Big Red Combine Harvester, Baa Baa Black Sheep and finished off with Old McDonald. Our Grown Up’s said we did a very good job and gave us a big clap.
A Windy Day
Today was a very windy day. We wanted to see what would happen to our ribbon streamers when we took them outside. The wind was so strong. Miss Dobb got out our den building tarp and we all held the corners to see what would happen. The wind blew inside and lifted the tarp high into the air. It was lots of fun.

Christmas Party
We had a great time at our Christmas party. We learned a funky Christmas dance, played lots of party games then tucked into cheesy and jam sandwiches, sausages rolls and other sweet treats!
Merry Christmas from us all.

A Special Visitor!
It was so exciting today. Father Christmas came to nursery to deliver a present early! He told us that Candy Cane our Elf had told him we have been very good and he said we have to make sure we are tucked up in bed ready for him on Christmas Eve. He didn’t stay long, because he is very busy. Some of us were brave enough to have our picture taken with him!

Halloween Dress Up Day
Today Nursery had a dress up day. We came to school in our favourite costumes. We showed them off to each other and had a dance. Then we tried on lots of different costumes using our self help skills and asking each other for help when we got stuck with a tricky sleeve or fastening up the back.
