In the lead-up to Christmas, Year 2 have been busy combining festive fun with creative learning!

After all the excitement of our Christmas Carol Concert, we continued to celebrate the season while still following our curriculum. Using an online paint program, the children created their very own winter and Christmas-themed pictures. They explored different tools to make shapes, change colours, and even add text to their artwork. It was a wonderful opportunity to experiment with digital creativity, and we’re so proud of their efforts. We hope you enjoy their festive masterpieces!

Harvest

For our harvest performance, at St Martins Church, we changed the words of a very well-known song to fit the theme of harvest. The children enjoyed singing about all of the fruit and vegetables that farmers harvest and working with their teacher to come up with moves to the words.

History - Florence Nightingale

The children had a wonderful time taking part in a fantastic Florence Nightingale drama workshop! The children really got into the spirit of the day, arriving dressed as wounded soldiers, nurses, doctors and even Florence Nightingale herself.

Throughout the session, the children were immersed in Florence’s life story, learning about her childhood dreams and her incredible work during the Crimean War. Through role-play and storytelling, they stepped back in time and experienced what life was like in a hospital during the 1800s – even visiting a rather grim rat-infested ward!

The children took on different roles, showing great empathy and enthusiasm as they acted out scenes, cared for patients and explored how Florence helped to improve conditions for soldiers. It was a brilliant way to bring our history learning to life, and the children thoroughly enjoyed every minute.

We are so proud of how confidently and creatively they participated – it was a truly memorable experience for everyone!
